Hypertherm XPR Plasma Systems

In March 2017 Hypertherm officially launched their all new XPR300 plasma unit, which was the first of a new class of mechanised plasma featuring their new X-Definition technology. This technology brings significant advantages to the cutting process, affecting not only mild steel cutting but also bringing industry leading cut quality to stainless steel and aluminium. In October 2018 the XPR170 model has now been added to the range.

The new XPR300 plasma replaced the outgoing HPR260 XD model as well as covering applications previously needing the HPR400 XD. The XPR170 brings the technology to a lower amperage model although the entry level HPR130 XD model remains available at this point. This new XPR technology is available on both the Morgan Rushworth HDP and HDPX CNC plasma cutting machines.

A short summary of the benefits of XPR300 plasma featuring X-Definition technology are as follows;

SUPERIOR CUTTING PERFORMANCE

  • Much improved cut quality for stainless and aluminium material
  • Mild steel cutting retains its quality over longer consumable life than competing systems
  • Cut speeds can be increased by up to 15%

CONNECTIVITY AND EASE OF USE

  • Reduced connections and real time feedback with EtherCAT driver connectivity
  • Easy to use control with step by step wizard to start cut program

INNOVATIVE SYSTEM MANAGEMENT

  • The plasma system can be monitored from any connected device

REDUCE COSTS WITH IMPROVED RELIABILITY

  • Automatic torch protection and ramp down error protection to deliver optimal torch and consumable life
  • Increased consumable life and improved torch protection reduces operating costs over time
